how to switch domino Administration server

Switching an administration server in a Domino network from one server to another

1. On all databases that list the old administration server name, change the ACL / Advanced / Administration server setting (Domino Directory, Administration server, admin4.nsf, and other administration databases) to the new administration server name.
Helpful Hint: You can select multiple databases at once then right mouse / Access Control / Manage to change the ACL.

2. Replicate the changes to the new administration server. As you modify the ACL of these databases, when prompted, choose not to remove the old administration server from the ACL (you can remove this at a later date). You can replicate the databases, use FTP, or the file system to copy all databases from the Data directory.

The following steps can be followed depending on your environment:

3. Change the Domino Administration preferences. From the File menu, choose Preferences > Administration Preferences > Basics panel, highlight the domain, and click Edit. Change "Domino directory servers for this domain" to the appropriate administration server.

4. Make sure that each Lotus Domino® server in the domain has a replica of the Administration Process (admin4.nsf) database from the Hub/Domain Controller Server.

5. Ensure that all servers (hub and spokes) have the AdminP task running.

6. Verify that the "Administration server" is listed in each user mail file in the ACL > Advanced section.
Usually the admin server setting would be the Home Mail server of the user unless the mail database happens to be on the admin server for the Domain. The correct Home Mail server setting can be found on the user's Person Record in the Domino directory.

7. Save all user IDs, passwords, and mail databases for future use. Make sure that each user and/or administrator has a backup copy of all ID files (user.id, server.id, cert.id).

8. Have a backup copy of all other important files, such as user.id, server.id, cert.id, desktop.ndk, notes.ini, and the Domino Directory.

One customer requested an enhancement : a view listing the ACL Administration Server setting.
You can customize this sample code - it lists the administration server ACL setting for each user
